As well as working in Dubai and federal government for over a decade, she has also written doctoral level research on Emiratis learning Arabic in Dubai (https://bath.academia.edu/JoanneSeymour) and earned herself the honorary nickname of Afra Al Muhairi. She is a language learning addict and still manages to practice her Emirati by translating songs into the Emirati dialect and making bad attempts at Dad jokes in her 19^th language.
