Joanne worked in the UAE for 12 years and has recently moved back to the UK, but left her heart "fil Emaraat" (in the UAE)!
As well as working in Dubai and federal government for over a decade, she has also written doctoral level research on Emiratis learning Arabic in Dubai (https://bath.academia.edu/JoanneSeymour) and earned herself the honorary nickname of Afra Al Muhairi. She is a language learning addict and still manages to practice her Emirati by translating songs into the Emirati dialect and making bad attempts at Dad jokes in her 19th language.
